To track WoW alts efficiently, watch five numbers per character each week: Great Vault slots unlocked, dungeons completed toward 1, 4 and 8, raid bosses killed toward 2, 4 and 6, world activities toward 2, 4 and 8, and item level. Let an app rebuild them from Blizzard's API and spend your own time on the alt that is one run short.
Everything else about an alt, gear, achievements, collections, moves slowly. These five move every week and reset on a fixed day.

A reset day routine for the whole roster
- The evening before reset: open the roster, sorted by cheapest next slot. Play the alt that gains a slot from one run first; VaultAlts' reminder 24 hours and 6 hours before your region's reset names that alt for you.
- At the reset instant (Tuesday 15:00 UTC US, Wednesday 04:00 UTC EU, Wednesday 23:00 UTC KR and TW) every row goes back to zero and last week moves into the six week history.
- After reset, in game: open the Great Vault on each alt and take the item, or 6 Thalassian Tokens of Merit, or 1 Nebulous Voidcore if three or more slots were unlocked. No app can do this step.
- Midweek: one look at the roster. An alt with 0 dungeons and 0 kills costs one run to fix; an alt with 7 dungeons costs one run to finish. Both are visible without logging in.

Where the method has limits
The API is the ceiling. It does not publish the vault's items, gold or bags, and it publishes best runs per dungeon rather than every run, so an app counts a dungeon once and estimates the world row from weekly quests. Retail only, one Battle.net region per account. Which approach (spreadsheet, addon, app) fits your roster is on the best way to track multiple WoW characters.
Frequently asked questions
How often should I check my WoW alts?
Twice a week is enough when an app keeps the numbers: once midweek to see which alt still has a cheap vault slot, and once the evening before reset to spend the last runs where they open a slot. The reminders 24 hours and 6 hours before reset cover the second look.
Do I have to log into every alt to update the tracker?
No. VaultAlts reads every character on the account from Blizzard's API after one login on Blizzard's page, and syncs a character when you open the app and its data is more than an hour old.
Can I track alts on different realms together?
Yes. Every character in your Battle.net region appears in one list whatever the realm. Characters in another region are not included, because an account connects one region.
