Diablo 4 has had 15 seasons since Season of the Malignant began on July 20, 2023. Completed seasons ran between 47 and 112 days, nine of the fifteen started on a Tuesday, and the current one, Season of Hell's Legacy, began September 15, 2026 with no end date announced. Season 6 launched with Vessel of Hatred and Season 13 with Lord of Hatred.

Every Diablo 4 season at a glance

Start times are the ones in Blizzard's own announcement for each season, in Pacific time. A season ends at the moment the next one begins, so the end date and length are taken from the following season's start. Three seasons went live at 4 p.m. or later Pacific time, which is already the next calendar day in Europe and Asia; those rows say so.

Two rows without a time. Blizzard's Season 9 and Season 10 announcements give the date but no launch hour in their opening lines, so those rows carry the date only. The patch note archives confirm the same dates for 2.3.0 and 2.4.0.

How long does a Diablo 4 season last?

Measured from one start to the next, the fourteen completed seasons ran from 47 days (Season of Slaughter, cut short by the Lord of Hatred launch) to 112 days (Season of the Construct), and eight of them lasted between 77 and 98 days. The seasons that sat just before an expansion were the short ones: Season 5 ran 62 days before Vessel of Hatred and Season 12 ran 47 days before Lord of Hatred.

Blizzard does not publish a fixed season length, and it has not announced when Season 15 ends. That said, Blizzard's Season of Reckoning post described that season as a departure and promised future seasons would "return to our regular cadence and form"; the two seasons since then ran 64 and 77 days.

What was each season's theme?

Season 1: Season of the Malignant (July 20, 2023)

Lilith's corruption created Malignant Monsters; Malignant Hearts dropped by them were placed into Infested sockets in jewelry in place of gems, with a new questline, a season boss, dungeons and the first Battle Pass. Blizzard's launch post previewed 6 new Unique items and 7 Legendary Aspects.

Season 2: Season of Blood (October 17, 2023)

A vampire hunter ally, Vampiric Powers and Pact Armor against Lord Zir's Blood Seekers. This update also added new endgame bosses with exclusive Uniques and cosmetics, and let seasonal characters skip the campaign after the Prologue's Missing Pieces quest. Patch 1.2.0.

Season 3: Season of the Construct (January 23, 2024)

Vaults, a new dungeon type beneath Kehjistan, the demon Malphas, and the Seneschal Companion customized with Governing and Tuning Stones. The Gauntlet, a weekly rotating dungeon with leaderboards, was announced as coming soon. Patch 1.3.0.

Season 4: Loot Reborn (May 14, 2024)

The itemization overhaul, tested on Diablo IV's first public test realm: Tempering and Masterworking, reworked affixes, Helltide reborn across all World Tiers with the Hellborne, and the Iron Wolves mercenary company. Its changes persisted on the Eternal realm too. Patch 1.4.0.

Season 5: Season of the Infernal Hordes (August 6, 2024)

The Infernal Hordes, a wave based mode against Hell's legions with Infernal Offerings between waves, on both Seasonal and Eternal realms, plus Fell Priests to battle. Patch 1.5.0.

Season 6: Season of Hatred Rising (October 7, 2024, 4 p.m. PDT)

Launched with the Vessel of Hatred expansion. Realmwalkers, Mephisto's giant heralds carrying portals on their backs, stomped across regions; the expansion brought Nahantu, the Spiritborn class, Mercenaries, Runewords, the Dark Citadel and Kurast Undercity, and its base game update set a new max level of 60 with Paragon 300, a new difficulty system and the item quality rework for every player. Patch 2.0.

Season 7: Season of Witchcraft (January 21, 2025)

The Tree of Whispers' Heads were stolen; Witchcraft Powers earned from the Coven of Hawezar, rogue Headrotten to slay, the Armory for saving builds on all realms, and new and updated Runes for Vessel of Hatred owners. Patch 2.1.0.

Season 8: Belial's Return (April 29, 2025)

Belial, the Lord of Lies, apparently returned; Boss Powers earned from bosses, Apparition Monsters, and the former Ladder Bosses split into Initiate, Greater and Exalted Lair Bosses. Patch 2.2.0.

Season 9: Sins of the Horadrim (July 1, 2025)

Horadric Spellcraft and Blood Relics corrupted by Astaroth, with permanent Nightmare Dungeon updates on both realms: Horadric Strongroom micro dungeons, Escalating Nightmares and new affixes. Patch 2.3.0.

Season 10: Season of Infernal Chaos (September 23, 2025)

Chaos Armor that can appear in unexpected slots, Chaos Perks, Chaos Rifts opened by the Fell Council, and permanent Infernal Hordes updates with Chaos Waves and a new boss, Bartuc, Lord of Chaos. Patch 2.4.0.

Season 11: Season of Divine Intervention (December 11, 2025, 8:30 p.m. PST)

The Lesser Evils returned with Azmodan leading; an unbound angel granted Divine Gifts. Permanent changes to Masterworking and Tempering, over 20 new monster affixes with Elites spawning minions, and Season Rank, the more demanding successor to the Season Journey, each rank gated by a Capstone Dungeon. Patch 2.5.0. The Lord of Hatred pre purchase, with Paladin early access, opened the same evening.

Season 12: Season of Slaughter (March 11, 2026)

Transform into The Butcher, build Kill Streaks, and hunt Uniques and Bloodied items; Bloodstained Sigils summoned harder Nightmare Dungeons, Lair Bosses and Infernal Hordes, and a new Butcher Lair Boss dropped new Uniques. Players without Lord of Hatred could try the Paladin free to level 25. Patch 2.6.0.

Season 13: Season of Reckoning (April 27, 2026, 4:30 p.m. PDT)

Launched half an hour after Lord of Hatred. By Blizzard's own description it had no season specific story, theme or gameplay elements; instead it carried the 3.0 system changes for everyone: the level cap raised to 70, Torment levels expanded from 4 to 12, sweeping Skill Tree updates, over 200 Legendary Aspects overhauled, the Loot Filter, Map Overlay and Pathfinding, Season Rank, Season Blessings and the return of the Tower and Leaderboards. Patch 3.0.1.

Season 14: Season of Death Awakening (June 30, 2026)

Pandemonium Ruptures and the Death Cult after Mephisto's defeat, Mythic Uniques 3.0, the release of the Tower and Leaderboards, Solo Self Found, an Overwatch crossover Reliquary with the first earnable dye, and a free Warlock trial from June 30 to July 7. Patch 3.1.0.

Season 15: Season of Hell's Legacy (September 15, 2026)

The 30th anniversary season: Deckard Cain, the three dark wanderers, Waking Nightmares, Splinters of Evil, Soul Splinters, nine legacy Uniques, Rebirth and the Horadric Post. Patch 3.2.1. The full breakdown is here.

Which seasons came with an expansion?

  • Season 6, Season of Hatred Rising, went live with Vessel of Hatred on October 7, 2024 at 4 p.m. PDT, which is October 8 in most of the world and the date Blizzard used to market the expansion.
  • Season 13, Season of Reckoning, went live on April 27, 2026 at 4:30 p.m. PDT, thirty minutes after Lord of Hatred began rolling out at 4:00 p.m. PDT; Blizzard's marketed date for the expansion was April 28, 2026.

Both expansions moved the launch to a late afternoon Pacific slot instead of the usual 10 a.m., and both were preceded by the shortest seasons in the list. The roadmap covers what is announced next, and the class page covers which classes each expansion unlocked.
