# The technology tree, and what to unlock first

The 1.0 release reviewed the unlock level of essentially everything and added a large ancient civilization tier, so old unlock advice is unreliable. The tree now holds 588 entries across levels 1 to 80, costing 1,413 Technology Points and 185 Ancient Technology Points in total. You will never unlock all of it in one run, which makes order the whole game.

## Where points come from

- Levelling, which is the bulk of your ordinary Technology Points. The level cap rose to 80 in 1.0, so there are more of them than in early access.
- Fast travel points. Activating a Great Eagle Statue for the first time grants one Technology Point, which makes detours to statues genuinely worth taking.
- Technical Manuals, consumables that grant points directly: Advanced gives one, Innovative two, Futuristic three. 1.0 added the ability to use manuals in bulk instead of one at a time.
- Ancient Technology Points, a separate currency for the ancient tier. First time boss kills are the main route, and the Ancient Technical Manual, a legendary consumable, grants exactly one. It drops from dungeon and enemy camp chests at rates from roughly twenty percent up to guaranteed depending on the location.

> **On the exact rate per level.** Widely quoted figures for Technology Points per level, and for Ancient points per Alpha and per tower boss, come from wiki pages labelled version 0.7.0 and were not restated in the 1.0 patch notes. They are probably still right, but they are not confirmed for 1.0, so treat any precise per level budget you read as an estimate.

## What to unlock early

The first tier costs nothing at all: Primitive Workbench, Stone Axe, Stone Pickaxe, hand held Torch and Wooden Club. Take them and move on, there is no decision to make.

Then the priorities, in order of how much they change your game:

1. Pal Sphere, one point. Catching is your experience, your labour force and your capture bonuses all at once, so nothing competes with this.
2. Palbox, one point. Defines your base and therefore everything a base does for you.
3. Ore Mining Site, Logging Site and Berry Plantation, two points each and available around player level 5 to 7. These convert Pals into passive wood, stone and ore income, which is what stops gathering from eating your play time.

After that the tree broadly follows your level, and the useful mental model is that weapons and armour arrive in tiers a few levels apart. Skipping a tier is usually fine; skipping two is where fights start feeling unfair.

## Armour by unlock level

*Body armour ladder in 1.0. Heat and cold variants unlock a few levels above each base tier.*
| Armour | Level |
| --- | --- |
| Cloth Outfit | 4 |
| Tropical Outfit, Tundra Outfit | 9 |
| Pelt Armor | 12 |
| Metal Armor | 23 |
| Refined Metal Armor | 37 |
| Pal Metal Armor | 46 |
| Plasteel Armor | 51 |
| Hexolite Armor | 59 |
| Ancient Armor | 68 |

Each tier from Pelt onward also has heat resistant and cold resistant versions a few levels higher, which is what lets you work in the volcano and the snow without constantly losing health. Pelt versions arrive at 16 and 18, Metal at 25 and 27, Refined Metal at 40 and 41, Pal Metal at 48 and 50, Plasteel at 53 and 54, Hexolite at 63 and 64, and Ancient at 75 and 77. Lightweight versions exist for the top three tiers at 55, 65 and 79.

Helmets and shields run their own ladders: Metal Helm 23, Refined Metal 37, Pal Metal 46, Plasteel 51, Hexolite 60 and Ancient 68; then Common Shield 4, Mega 16, Giga 29, Hyper 43, Ultra 55, Advanced 60 and Ancient 71.

## Weapons, including the thirteen new ones

The ranged ladder is long and fairly evenly spaced. The entries most worth planning around are Old Bow at 3, Crossbow at 13, Musket at 21, Handgun at 28, Assault Rifle at 45, Laser Rifle at 51, Rocket Launcher and Charge Rifle at 65.

1.0 added exactly thirteen new weapons, and they are concentrated at the top of the tree: Primitive Sword at 17 and Metal Bat at 40, then Mechanical Bow 67, Combat SMG 68, Enhanced Lily's Spear 68, Prototype Shotgun 69, Heavy Assault Rifle 70, Tactical Grenade Launcher 72, Laser Sword 73, Beam Scatter 75, Drone Launcher 77, Plasma Rifle 78 and Beam Launcher 80.

> **Two unlocks that change how you fight.** Extra Weapon Holster at level 27 and Extra Weapon Holster 2 at level 54 are both new in 1.0 and cost five Ancient Technology Points each. Together they take you from four equipped weapons to six, which is a bigger practical upgrade than most single weapon tiers.

## Frequently asked questions

### How many technology entries are in Palworld 1.0?

### How do you get Ancient Technology Points in Palworld?

Mainly from defeating bosses for the first time. The Ancient Technical Manual, a legendary consumable, also grants exactly one and drops from dungeon and enemy camp treasure chests at rates from roughly twenty percent up to guaranteed depending on location.

### What is the best armour in Palworld 1.0?

Ancient Armor, unlocking at level 68, with heat and cold resistant versions at 75 and 77 and a lightweight version at 79. The tier below it is Hexolite Armor at 59.

### How many weapons can you equip in Palworld 1.0?

Six, if you unlock both new holsters. Extra Weapon Holster at level 27 and Extra Weapon Holster 2 at level 54 each add a slot and each cost five Ancient Technology Points, taking you from the base four to six.
